DELETED SCENES

The Feared

“Adjective.” Emmeline swung her legs onto the couch, settling in with a pencil and the Madlibs notebook.

“Purple,” Archie said, lifting her feet onto his lap.

“Come on, tap into your creative side!”

“I thought you liked purple.”

“Yeah but it has to be funny.”

“Alright, adjective …” He drummed on her legs as he thought. “Poopy.”

Emmeline face-palmed, shaking her head. “You’re such a boy.”

“If you could bring one thing back to the tenth century from here, what would it be?” Archie wrapped a blanket around Emmeline and took a seat next to her on the floor in front of the crackling fire.

“I’d like to say indoor plumbing or electricity, but I will sorely miss cheeseburgers.”

With an amused grin, he said, “Same.”

“Look at these, Arch.” Emmeline separated printed papers across the table as he sat, setting a freshly-made chocolate shake in front of her. “Thanks,” she said, sipping.

“Talking to animals?” Archie read one of the articles.

“It tells all about special gifts after near-death experiences. Wouldn’t it make sense that I can feel their emotions?”

“I would have never believed in any of this if it weren’t happening right now. Kinda scary.”

Emmeline pecked him on the cheek. “The shake is delicious.”
